    The Herb

Though delicate in appearance, Bhumi Amla occupies a place of remarkable importance in Ayurveda.

Its name means “the amla that grows close to the earth.” Unlike the towering Amalaki tree, Bhumi Amla emerges humbly from the soil — small, subtle, and easily overlooked. Yet classical Ayurvedic physicians recognised within this tiny herb a profound affinity for the liver, urinary system, digestion, and the management of aggravated Pitta.

For centuries, Bhumi Amla has been associated with cooling purification — traditionally used where excess internal heat, sluggish liver function, disturbed digestion, and urinary discomfort required gentle but intelligent correction.

Its bitter and cooling nature made it especially valued in conditions Ayurveda associates with accumulated Pitta and Rakta imbalance.

ASLI AYURVEDA offers Bhumi Amla in its most authentic form — whole herb, naturally harvested, sun-cured, and preserved without additives or artificial processing.

This is not a loud herb.
This is one of Ayurveda’s quiet purifiers.

    What the Ancient Texts Say

    Bhavaprakasha Nighantu

    Bhūmyāmalakī tiktā śītalā pittanāśinī ।
    Yakṛtplīhāvikāraghnī mūtralā dīpanāśinī ॥

“Bhumi Amla is bitter, cooling, and pacifies Pitta. It is traditionally associated with supporting the liver, spleen, urinary function, and digestive balance.”

Bhavaprakasha highlights Bhumi Amla’s strong relationship with Yakrit (liver) and Pitta balance — themes consistently repeated across Ayurvedic tradition.

    Raja Nighantu

    Bhūmyāmalā himātiktā kaphapittavināśinī ।
    Dāhatṛṣṇāpraśamanī mūtrakṛcchravināśinī ॥

“Bhumi Amla is cooling and bitter, pacifies Kapha and Pitta, and is traditionally associated with relieving heat, excessive thirst, and urinary discomfort.”

The classical texts consistently honour Bhumi Amla as a cooling purifier deeply connected with liver and urinary wellness.
